Hyundai Engineering Machinery Europe announced that its first mass-produced electric mini excavator HX19e will start production in April and will debut at the German BMW Show (Bauma 2025) in April. Hyundai Group emphasized in a statement that the launch of HX19e marks a key step in its green transformation.

As Hyundai's first mass-produced electric model, HX19e is mainly aimed at urban utilities, landscaping, tunnels and basement excavation, and is also suitable for municipal projects such as stadiums and cemeteries. The whole machine weighs 5,061 pounds (about 2.3 tons) and provides two lithium-ion battery pack options of 32kWh and 40kWh. Among them, the 40kWh version can support nearly 7 hours of high-intensity construction on a single charge, and can achieve all-weather continuous operation with intermittent charging.

The HX19e is equipped with a Type 2 charging port as standard. For different power usage scenarios, the device can be charged in 4.8 hours (32kWh battery pack) and 6 hours (40kWh battery pack) through conventional power supply (110V/230V), or it can be charged quickly in 2-2.5 hours with the help of REMA DIN 320 fast charger with 380V/440V industrial power supply, breaking the pain point of "slow charging and short working time" of electric equipment.

In terms of power system, the 13 kW electric motor drives the open center hydraulic system, and the performance is the same as or even better than the diesel version. The electric model is equipped with a 16kN bucket digging force as standard, and the digging force of the bucket arm is increased to 9.4kN, the maximum digging depth is 2.3m, and the operating radius is 3.9m. The equipment uses biodegradable Panolin VG46 hydraulic oil, completely eliminates engine oil filter, fuel filter and other components, and the maintenance cost is significantly reduced compared with the diesel model.

The standard Hi-Mate remote management system allows users to monitor battery health in real time and optimize charging and discharging strategies; LED warning light group, hydraulic cylinder safety valve, shock-absorbing seat and other configurations significantly improve the safety and comfort of operation. Hyundai also provides customized options such as cab/awning and battery capacity to adapt to diversified scenarios from landscaping to tunnel excavation.

As European and American environmental protection regulations become increasingly stringent, the mass production of HX19e marks the official entry of Hyundai Group into the "zero-emission construction" competition. It is revealed that Hyundai's North American market electrification strategy will be unveiled during the 2026 American Construction Machinery Exhibition (ConExpo-Con/Agg), when Hyundai may compete for the commanding heights of the global green infrastructure market with a more complete product matrix.
